Description
Donnhoff, Niederhauser Hermannshohle GG Riesling 2011 Casa ClaraStony citrus again, with a dusty minerality. Subtle fragrance and just a touch of lime underneath. Slightly riper on the palate than the 2010 but less intensity than the Dellchen 2011. And not as long, though on second tasting I realise it is longer than I thought at first. Hint of spice at the very end. Elegant and understated. Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson. com (16. 5)
Soft plum and red fruit flavours also show a savoury streak
Best with pork
Wood on the nose with hints of vanilla and caramel
Bright and expressive
believing it to be a truly noble grape variety and emblematic of their region
The palate has a lovely salty tang
some bitter herbs
rum-flavored chocolates and sugar cookies
former Sipsmith distiller Chris Garden and Cairby Hill of UCL have created a new Triple Technique distillation process which extracts a broader spectrum of flavours at lower temperatures under pressure
cinnamon and crushed leaves with a bright mineral seam running through it
On the palate they are joined by flavours of vibrant citrus and toasted hazelnut
The youthful density of the mouthfeel helps enhance the deep fruit notes throughout
