The Story I painted this by the Goulburn River where the water was so still it doubled everything. Sitting there I realised how much of what I thought I knew was just reflection not the thing itself. The bush was alive with colour I had never noticed before because I was always moving through it too fast. This painting came from the moment I stopped and let the doubt in.

I needed to see what it looked like to be in the middle of something real

It belongs where contemplation already lives — meditation rooms

the painting's dual structure begins to mirror an internal recognition: the experience of having seen clearly what cannot yet be touched

The dark silhouettes of trees stand like witnesses to a struggle that does not yet know it is growth

and the river washed what was left

This forest is a place I go when the noise gets too real
