Description
HR Brilhart 5 air flowHere is a vintage Arnold Brilhart "Hard Rubber" 5 for tenor with serial number. This piece measures . 090" on my gauge. Brilhart hard rubber mouthpieces were among the finest ever produced. Top quality rubber and geometry result in an enduring classic in the American tradition. Brihart HR's from this era are shorter than their Link counterparts and deliver a bit more punch overall. This piece has had some work by an unknown person behind the tip rail.
This is a rare find in that it is in near pristine original shape and features the desirable small chamber configuration
low baffle that creates a very powerful but open sounding response
There is some plating loss on the body and a bit on the table and rails but still measues evenly from side to side and is in excellent playing condition
The shank in particular bears a strong resemblance to their Dick Stabile line
Here is a completely original
098” which is closer to a 7
During this time there was a gap in the market for professional quality saxophone mouthpieces that was being filled by Gary and others such as Barone and Guardala
There is some minor bubbling under the plating on the table
In very good original condition
too many people are getting taken advantage of online with erroneously described items
The tip size wasn't altered in the process and the work was very minimal
As it is this piece has a nice warm focus but curiosity has me wondering what it would be like at a more contemporary size combined with its unique geometry
