Having served as our national emblem since 1782, the Bald Eagle has been a spiritual symbol for our native people even longer. This beautiful symbol of freedom was sitting high above Rapid Creek near Jon Crane's home and rested long enough for Jon to grab his camera. Most often seen soaring in solitude,

he was on the search before either the sun or Gail had made it up

Positioned at a crucial crossroads north of Rochford and near Nahant in the beautiful Black Hills

and “At Rest Beneath the Rimrock” was the result of her eagle eye

but not unloved

In the early 1980s Jon took a trip to Montana in search of subjects to paint
